Ancient Egyptians believed that they could protect themselves from evil spirits by watching their cats.  Felines could sense the invisible presence and would react to the threat, warning the living people in the home.

Cats can still sense invisible threats.  Their senses and their whiskers are more finely attuned to the world around them than yours and mine are.

So, take note when your mouser meows to come in and stretches out on the cool tile floor.  He senses the threat of excessive sun and heat and is taking the most sensible action available for a non-swimmer.

The pool practically looks after itself since we have a Solar-Breeze.  The garden lies fallow in the Arizona heat.  The compost is cooking.  The monsoon winds brought down a major limb of our mesquite tree so we trimmed and tidied the trees.  We have finally cleaned up the dirt from the Haboob that enveloped the Valley of the Sun a couple of weeks ago.

So now we have more time to do the fun summer things but not enough time off to head out of town.  Having a backyard pool is like going to the Cottage after 5pm everyday and still being back at work the next morning.

With the temperature climbing, the pool will be the center of most of your outside entertaining.  The annual heat wave is settling in, so why not escape away!  You can make your pool a summer oasis, where you can show off your new summer threads, enjoy some refreshments, join in a game of water volleyball, or just have some barefoot fun in the sun.  The water, shade and company provide nice ways to stay fresh and cool while enjoying the summer warmth with friends and family.  That’s why this summer, no matter how young or old you are, pool parties are the ‘it’ thing.
